Loki is my service dog, and of course my best friend. He loves car rides, retrieving tennis balls, and will almost do anything for liver and peanut butter treats! A week before I got Loki he was hit by a car, which has dramatically slowed down any advance service dog training I was planning on. Loki was just 19 months old, and we all know how quick, independent, and impulsive a young German Sheppard male can be. Loki was well trained by his previous master, and for some unknown reason took off to a busy street with no warning. I’m just thankful he survived the incident! I’ve known Loki since he was a puppy. I used to dog sit for my friend who rescued Loki from an animal shelter after his mother refused to nurse her pups. I remember that it was just before Thanksgiving 2008 that we were all so worried he wouldn’t make it. He thankfully did!
