Valvular Heart Disease

Valvular heart disease is characterized by leaking heart valves causing a backwards flow of blood into the heart and heart enlargement. Dogs with this condition often show no signs of illness, but a heart murmur will be detected during a regular physical examination. Signs of this condition may include exercise intolerance, cough, fainting and rapid or difficulty breathing.

Consult your veterinarian if your dog shows any of these signs.
