Summer Vacation for Pets

by Kate Spencer on 07/12/2012

As summer brings vacations for people, so it also brings vacations for pets.

While I hopped on a plane and jetted off on a summer getaway to Alaska, 9-month-old Reux jumped into my dad's truck and headed down to enjoy a weeklong romp across my parents' 11 acres.

I went hiking and camping in Alaska's Denali National Park, and Reux went racing and yipping across the family homestead. As the photo below shows, he had a pretty good time playing with the hose outside.

Share your pet's summer vacation stories! Did your pet travel with you? Did you have a petsitter come over to your house? Or did your pet get a vacation of its own at a kennel or with a family member or friend?

I traveled a year ago with our dog and it turned out to be a disaster, I have been scouring the web for nuggets of wisdom.  This article offers some great advice, another article on the VitaHound.com site was also helpful.

We love going on vacation with our pet and we usually bring her everywhere just to enjoy. This is such a great tips and it really takes a time to train a dog just to be a good traveler. I would love to follow the tips you have shared and I am glad to see it in here.
